Parish Records
Can we help?
We receive a great many enquiries from people looking to trace their family histories and hoping to find access to our parish records. Sadly, most of them are looking in the wrong place, as we only hold a limited amount of recent information locally.
Most of the enquiries we receive relate to Aston Parish Church. The records we do have locally for Aston Parish Church (Ss Peter & Paul) are of:
- Baptisms from March 1959
- Weddings from September 1969
- Burials from May 1954
We also have partial records of graves (burials have been taking place in our churchyard for hundreds of years) and good records of the memorials and gravestones that are still visible.
For St Matthew’s we hold the registers for baptisms from July 1994 and weddings from November 2007.
There is a cost of £21 for enquiries about the records that we do hold locally. Such enquiries should be made via Aston Parish Church Office and include a cheque for this amount payable to The Parish of Aston & Nechells.
Finding the records you want elsewhere
For most people, the best place to start is actually with Birmingham Central Library’s Archives and Heritage Department

To help you know some more detail about the monumental inscriptions that can be found at Aston Parish Church, a fiche (number 1039) is reproduced on “Picard’s Pink Pages of Warwickshire Genealogy” with the kind permission of Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry.
